The Elbrus bedroom has a queen bed with fascinating Russian photos and collectables, as well as antique climbing gear and other items from Europe and the Alps. The corner Vinson bedroom has a queen bed with rare and unique things from Antarctica and the southern-most tip of South America. The Kosi bedroom has a double bed with trundle single bed, perfect for another couple or the kids. Cards, games, and kids books are also provided. The full downstairs bathroom includes a second jetted tub/tiled shower and dual sinks. The laundry/mud room with extra utility sink is a perfect area to clean your fish. (Half bath is upstairs near the Denali great room). Deck and patio Be outside for dinner! On the back deck you can use the gas grill to cook, and gas fire ring to help keep you warm, or let the kids roast marshmallows. Table and chairs (cushions are in the storage box on the deck) provided on the deck, as well another set on the downstairs cement patio, just feet from the lake. Closer to the shore, there's even a swing so you can sit, relax, and enjoy the view. Town and Tourist Sites Make the 20 minute drive to Idaho Springs to visit the Argo Gold Mine, Mill and Museum; Heritage Visitor Center and Museum; Underhill Museum; and charming shops and delightful local restaurants. Head to Georgetown and ride the Loop Historic Railroad, including Santa at Christmas time and other special events. Drive up Mount Evans, the highest paved road in the U.S., to enjoy the view and (probably) see big horn sheep and Colorado’s only mountain goats. We are a licensed Clear Creek County Short Term Rental. Our beautiful cabin is nestled in the beautiful Arapaho National Forest surrounding St. Mary’s Glacier in the Winterland neighborhood. The natural setting allows for all sorts of outdoor activities year round. In the winter you can enjoy snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. When the snow melts in June, opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, 4x4 off-roading, rafting and zip lining abound. The base of St. Mary's Glacier is a short one mile walk from the cabin and takes 30 to 40 minutes depending on your walking pace. There are also two private lakes in the neighborhood that can be fished using our fishing badges. The nearby quaint town of Idaho Springs boasts unique shopping and is rich in frontier and mining history. Try your luck at panning for gold after taking in a tour at one of the local mines. Run the rapids of Clear Creek with one of the several rafting companies right in Idaho Springs. Afterwards, soak in our private hot tub or try the hot springs and baths of Indian Springs. Or you can just spend the day shopping and visiting some of the several museums around town that are interesting for the entire family. There are several restaurants in Idaho Springs as well. Beau Jo’s world famous pizza is an excellent choice or you can try one (or two) of the microbrews at Tommyknocker Brewery. After a long day of invigorating activity, shopping, or exploring, relax in our spacious two bedroom – two bath cabin. The living room has all of the comforts of home including a flat screen television with DirecTV and DVD player. If you’ve come to get away from the television, feel free to push the flat screen against the wall and forget it’s there. You can play some music, stretch out on the couches and enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace while reading your favorite book. The larger couch also folds out into a queen size bed. The beautifully updated kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook your favorite meals. Also downstairs is a full bathroom equipped with an amazingly relaxing rainforest shower head. Follow the aspen log staircase upstairs to the second bathroom and two bedrooms. The second bedroom sleeps two on a comfortable queen size bed and the master has a larger king size aspen log bed. From the master bedroom or the main entrance downstairs the large front deck can be accessed. Soak all your troubles away and enjoy the amazing scenery in the luxury hot tub situated on the deck. If you are looking for a base camp for four wheeling and off road trails, please let me know and I will be happy to give you more information about accessing the hundreds of miles of National Forrest roads from the three trail heads in the neighborhood. We stock the stream on the property with Rainbow Trout every year, and the 2 lakes within half a mile are also fully stocked. Native Brook Trout also abound. Outdoor adventure? We'll show you the nearby hiking trails and we'll show you where you can find the scree and timber brought down by an avalanche; where flocks of bluebirds return every March just as the pasque flowers begin to bloom. And challenge you to find the small unmarked gravesite up on Yankee Hill. A retreat for the mind and heart? We have unusual books on almost every subject - find an old favorite or make a new discovery. And finally, we've tried to think of the things that will make your visit perfect...there's a large propane grill on the upper level deck; the TV is in it's own room on the entry level so the sports fanatics don't intrude on those upstairs contemplating nature. Exit the first level to the lower deck and swing on the antique ferris wheel chairs while you watch the chipmunks scamper across the wild landscape. If you bring children, they will enjoy the mountain clubhouse, nestled close enough to see from the kitchen window, but far enough to let the kids feel like they're isolated deep in the woods. Hike into the backyard, where deer and elk may be seen. While hiking look for mushrooms and old abandoned mines. Walk to the nearby lake for fishing or hiking. Snowshoe, or cross country ski to St Mary's Glacier, James Peak, and beyond. Miles of 4x4, hiking, and mountain biking trails are minutes away. Downhill ski areas close by are Loveland, Berthod Pass, Eldora, Winter Park, and the familiar Summit County areas. Only twenty minutes away is the town of Idaho Springs where you can pan for gold, river raft, zip line, or have a few fresh brews at the Tommyknocker Brewery or search for antiques in nearby Georgetown. Our cozy house is located in St. Mary's Glacier addition of Idaho Springs. It is 10,000 feet high just 30 minutes from Denver. We have two bedrooms upstairs, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen size bed. There is a full bath upstairs as well as a washer and dryer. Downstairs we have the living, dining and kitchen with a nice eat in bar and all the comforts of home. Downstairs also includes a half bath. There is a futon in the living room that folds out to queen size bed. A wood burning stove in the living room can heat the entire house but there are also electric wall heaters in every room. We love to sit out on the deck in the morning and drink our coffee while we wait for the deer to frolic by on their way to the creek that backs up to the property. Hummingbirds fly around and birds and squirrels are plentiful. 4-wheeling trails are abundant in the St. Mary area and many can be accessed from our house. The Indian Hot Springs are just a short drive down to Idaho Springs which also has rafting and plentiful shopping. For everyone's security, there are two outside cameras located 25 yards from the cabin entrance. One overlooks the property entrance and helps assess road conditions. The other overlooks the driveway and cabin entrance. NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW: This neighborhood is in a perfect Goldilocks situation. Not too far from towns and a major highway to quell your thirst for civilization. Yet surrounded by a peaceful gorgeous water-centric portion of Arapaho National Forest up the side of 13,000+ ft mountains. There are local hiking trails that take you deeper into the forest and traverse up to a string of 13K+ ft mountains in the James Peak Wilderness Area. Watch out for moose, bears, fox, deer, and mountain lions. Do not leave any trash outside other than in the bear-proof trash can. We do have neighbors within sight on one side and one across the creek. Please be respectful of their privacy and this includes sound. We are in a valley where voices echo across the way with ease. The creek muffles some of it, but in the winter when the creek is frozen over it's much quieter. The neighbors have moved here to enjoy the peace of the surrounding forest and relish walking their dogs off-leash on the roads. Please respect them by slowing down on the roads and keeping outside sounds (especially after-hours) to a minimum. If you notice something different about this swath of forest versus south-facing and lower elevation forests, the conditions are just right so that the majority of the conifers are of the Christmas tree-like subalpine firs and Engelmann spruce. And the cool and moister conditions create absolutely massive aspens. This is in contrast to the normally drier forests with mostly ponderosa and lodgepole pines with longer needles. GETTING AROUND: Must have AWD/4WD with 3/16" tire tread from mid-Nov through mid-May. We do not accept reservations otherwise as you will get stuck in our driveway or jeopardize your safety on these hilly, curvy roads. This is a state law for driving on I-70 during snow activity. Past guests have recommended to rent cars through Turo (the Airbnb for cars) as there can be more AWD variety than Hertz, etc at cheaper prices and more convenient airport pickup. You can get Jeeps, trucks, etc with snow tires. No Uber/Lyft service. The cabin is just 3 miles from I-70. This is Colorado's crown jewel of highways as it's the most direct way to get you deeper into the mountains west to explore Georgetown, Frisco, Breckenridge, Vail, and beyond or east to Idaho Springs, Central City, Evergreen, Golden, Denver, and the DIA airport. Plus a main level private bedroom, and a separate kids bedroom upstairs (in the main cabin). - Property is located about 1 hour from Denver and it is very easy to get to - no I-70 traffic regardless of when you arrive or leave which is a big deal! - Real Gold Mining can be done year round just a few miles from the Cabin. (oh...and keep everything you find!). 4-wheelers can be rented and delivered to the cabin if desired. Information is also at the cabin for local dining, casinos, fishing, grocery stores, hiking, jeep trails, etc. You can 4-wheel/ATV right off the property and into endless amounts of trails leading all the way to the Continental Divide, Winter Park, St. Mary's Glacier, and everywhere in between. There are endless amount of trails for exploring just up the road from the cabin. Golden Gate National Park is also only 15 minutes away. I can't overstate how awesome the 4.5-mile hiking trail is off the back of the Cabin...plan to be gone for a few hours! Treasure! There are (2) VERY elaborate treasure hunts for you to enjoy. One inside, and one outside (the outside one can only be done when there isn't snow on the ground...can you find the buried treasure chest on the property??) I encourage all ages to do them. They aren't easy...and kids will need help from their parents to figure out some of the clues, but it's a TON of fun. And if you figure it out...there will be treasure waiting for you at the end... ;-) Metal Detecting on property! There are tons of coins throughout the property, and even REAL SILVER coins that if you find you're allowed to keep (1). (2) metal detectors are provided so you can find real treasure! Roads are plowed and maintained by the City of Black Hawk all the way to the cabin. Accessible year round. In the winter, we recommend FWD or weather dependent AWD. Complimentary Chocolate and Coffee are provided. All linens, Firewood, and Wood Stove Pellets are also provided. Easy check-in - 4-digit access code will give you access for the length of your stay. I have little notes, hints, directions, and suggestions all over the cabin to make everything about your stay even more enjoyable. Well decorated 1500 sq ft house right on mill creek, keyless entry, pellet stove, big screen tv, deck, and outdoor picnic tables. Catch fresh trout in the creek on the property or enjoy the many aspen trees, abundant wildlife or Mountain View’s. We are close to several ski areas, Mt Evans, St. Mary’s Glacier, Mine Tours and the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Historic Idaho Springs has ATV or snowmobile rentals as well as many great restaurants and shops. This house is located in a higher end neighborhood surrounded by mountains, Mill Creek and wildlife. Of course a Starbucks is about 1 mile away. Wether it’s a one night stay or a longer getaway, you can do as much or as little as you want. Hit the ski slopes or relax in front of the fireplace, it’s all up to you.

Built in 1910, this property was once the hydroelectric plant for Idaho Springs. This home has a large, open floor plan with 3 bedrooms as well as 2.5 bathrooms with linens and towels provided. It contains a large gourmet kitchen, with high end appliances as well as some cookware and cutlery. Fall River runs adjacent to the home, which is within Arapahoe National Forest. Please note that due to the nature of the location, cell phone service is often unreliable and wifi connection can be spotty. Additionally, please be aware that wildlife do occasionally find themselves on the property - we advise you to clear your vehicles of food and tidy up the outdoors, to avoid bear activity. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DUE TO NEGLIGENCE. Washer/dryer available as well as dishwasher. Outdoor patio has seating with umbrella, also hammock and small play area including swing.
